    News from SMPS

It’s March. Again. I think we can all agree that March 2020 lasted approximately 372 days. Not sure about you, but so far March 2021 is a huge improvement, as we begin to slowly re-engage with the world the “old fashioned way” in person. With vaccines here, and increasingly more available, “back to normal” seems more realistic than ever!

Over the past year, the Society has done a phenomenal job pivoting to an even stronger virtual platform with member resources, most notably the Pivot and Focus series and On-Demand Learning Labs. Check out these and other resources in the Member Support Hub at SMPS.

    Upcoming Deadlines
The 44th annual SMPS Marketing Communications Awards (MCAs) are due March 22. Find out more and submit here. The MCAs are a great opportunity to showcase your firm’s marketing and communications efforts and celebrate successes!

How are your CEUs coming? Will you have enough for recertification? Here’s a handy link for the course catalog to grab some of those missing educational units.

    Build Business
Build Business: R.I.S.E will be virtual again in 2021, with hopes of returning to an in-person event next year, in 2022. Registration is open now. Reminder, when you register the 45+ sessions remain available to you after the live events. Interested in presenting at this year’s event? The Call for Entries ends May 31st.

The Marketer, our now online newsletter, has an incredible depth of articles. Take some time and read about what our SMPS peers are sharing. There are some truly powerful stories about racial equality, what inclusion means today, and Celebrating Women’s History Month. I found this piece about cultural inheritances particularly powerful.

Karen Roberson is Co-Director of the Communications Committee for SMPS SFBAC and a Pursuit Manager, Buildings, at Stantec.
