Get inspired with SMPS SFBAC's Motivational Mondays! One Monday per month, during lunch, we will have a 45 minute discussion surrounding our thoughts on a chosen TED Talk, book excerpt, article, or other encouraging content. All attending members will receive the topic and materials prior to the event to enjoy on their own time. It’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s a great way to kick start your week with creativity and motivation. We hope to see you there.

This month's topic is the Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know. Please make sure to listen to the podcast before attending!

This session will be lead by our sponsor XL Construction, a leading general contractor whose mission is to “build to improve lives.” XL partners with today’s leaders in life sciences, advanced technology, corporate office, civic, healthcare, and education to create places that make its communities better. The company’s focus and passion for team success has earned it a network of great partners and a reputation for putting people first. XL Construction is consistently ranked among the top general contractors in Northern California. In 2020, the company was named ENR California’s Top General Contractor of 2020 and the #1 Best Place to Work in the Bay Area.

Leading the discussion will be Laura Guzmanan accomplished marketing and operations professional with over 16 years of industry experience. She has served in executive leadership positions with multiple AEC organizations, including as head of marketing and chief operating officer for Microdesk, a national BIM technology consultancy, and SVP of marketing and business development for global design engineering firm WSP. Today she is Vice President of Marketing & Communications for XL Construction, where for the past year she has been learning to rethink all sorts of things, from marketing practices to team building. That’s why she’s particularly excited to discuss Brené Brown’s timely interview with Adam Grant on the key concepts from his new book, Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know.
