Mentoring Pathways

Enrollment in Our Award-Winning Mentoring Pathways Program is Now Open!

    About Mentoring Pathways

Mentoring Pathways is designed to promote long-term leadership and career development through mentor-protégé relationships and monthly group workshops. Successful mentoring is a dynamic process rooted in rapport building. Participants candidly and objectively assist each other in defining professional and personal growth goals. A firm commitment to the mentoring process and a willingness to invest time and energy are important components for a successful relationship and a rewarding program experience.

Building on more than a decade as one of the Chapter’s most successful programs, Mentoring Pathways 2021 will offer a new, more easily accessible and inclusive format with all-virtual programming and dynamic mentor-protégé engagement. All participants will have the opportunity to connect with and learn from as many mentor/protégé counterparts as desired based on shared interests and growth objectives.

Applications are due Friday, December 4th, 2020.

    Application available here.

    Protégés

Protégés have the opportunity to grow from the mentors’ experience, guidance, and support. Consider applying as a protégé if you:

    • Are ready for the next step in your career and would like guidance and support to make it happen.
    • Have taken on a new role or position and are seeking advice and tips for success.
    • Are new to the industry and would like to build your support network.
    • Want to take advantage of our Chapter’s best assets – our experienced members – and learn from their expertise and perspectives.

    Mentors

Mentors share their experiences and advice on such topics as career advancement, practice strategies, professional visibility, networking and overcoming barriers to career success. Become a mentor to:

    • Share your expertise and reap the benefits from knowing that you helped to boost another’s career.
    • Assist in protégé career path development in the A/E/C industry.
    • Help protégés identify gaps in skills or experience that may be inhibiting their growth and advancement.
    • Share knowledge and experiences that enable protégés to avoid common mistakes/pitfalls on their path to success.
    • Provide insight as to how office politics and corporate culture can influence one’s  job and career path.
    • Give back to the SMPS community that has helped you advance in your own career.

“As a protégé, the Mentoring Pathways Program helps you realize how much you can achieve with the right guidance and encouragement. The program is designed for you to challenge yourself and holds you accountable for your own success while offering stepping stones to help you reach it.”
