Proposal Writer & AI Agent Trainer
Buoyant AI
Job Posting
Jul. 16, 2026
Description
You already know how to write a winning proposal. Come do that — and teach our AI to do the rest.
You've lived it: the 40-page RFP that drops with two weeks' notice, the compliance matrix, the SF330s, chasing resumes and reformatting boilerplate at midnight while covering three other pursuits. You're good at it. You know what actually wins — not just what gets submitted.
We want to learn from you. At Buoyant, you'll do what you do best and improve our proposal agents. Everything you do teaches our AI to write the next one better. You're the expert whose judgment sets the standard, and you're helping build the thing that gives proposal teams across AEC their weekends back.
About Buoyant
Buoyant builds AI agents for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms. Our flagship product drafts and assembles RFP and SOQ responses — in a firm's own voice, pulling from their project history, resumes, and past proposals, straight into Word and InDesign. We're growing 10x, we're profitable, and quickly winning the AEC market. Founded by a venture capitalist who spent a year writing AEC proposals himself and a top 1% Amazon infrastructure engineer who started his engineering career at Siemens.
What You'll Do
-
Teach Buoyant: Review agent-drafted responses, correct them, and give the structured feedback that makes the next draft sharper — tone, compliance, win themes, formatting, the right resumes and past projects for each pursuit. Fix edge cases and build the rails on which Buoyant agents will learn to follow.
-
Use Buoyant: Use Buoyant’s AI agents to write proposals and help our clients.
-
Be the proposal expert in the room when we decide what to build next, so the next product updates make a coordinator's life easier.
Who You Are
-
Real, hands-on AEC proposal experience — you've personally owned RFP/SOQ responses at an A/E, civil, structural, environmental, construction, or architecture firm. Titles like Proposal Writer, Proposal Coordinator, or Marketing/BD Coordinator.
-
You have strong instincts for what wins — and you can explain them, not just apply them.
-
You take pride in the craft and want a focused role doing what you're great at.
-
You're curious about AI and comfortable picking up new tools (no coding required).
-
Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable under deadline.
This Role Is a Great Fit If…
You love proposal work but are tired of the firm politics, the thankless midnight all-nighters, and being treated as overhead. Here, the writing is the whole point, your expertise is valued, and you'll shape a product used by hundreds of firms. If you've been burned out and want to do the part you're good at — with better pay and better tools — read on.
Logistics
-
Location: San Francisco, hybrid (Marina / Cow Hollow). Open to remote for the right person.
-
Compensation: ~$100K–$150K base (flexible) + equity. Flexible here based on qualifications and experience.
-
Timeline: We're moving fast — aiming to have this seat filled by the end of July.
-
Process: Intro conversation → Take-home project → Meet the team → Offer. You'll know quickly.
